  1. DeadlySniper007 added a post in a topic Ark server up again

The much awaited v265 update has arrived! This major update opens up additional locations in Ragnarok, introduces tameable Titanboas, and even provides huge perf gains. ("may vary based on system configuration due to upgrading to the latest Unreal Rendering code. After changing your in game settings, be sure to restart your clients!")
Ragnarok is expanding into the South West region of the map where it'll be opening up the playing field by adding a near 25% (the size of The Island) additional playable landmass including: large islands, lots of flat-lands to build, a new experimental free range Wyvern cove, temple ruins, a meteor crash site, underwater passages, as well as a mini Tasmania Australia as we call it.

This most recent update has been a challenge creativity-wise. Scorched Earth and The Island assets were never really meant to be placed side by side necessarily, so finding that balanced between the two has been rewarding. We really wanted to emphasize a change from the more tight-knit North West to a more open and accessible South West. Where, we could give ARK players a host of new wide open areas to conquer and explore, as well as the real estate to really drive those large creative builds.

With this update, we wanted to try something new, something different. Rather than just do another Wyvern trench in the South, we thought, why not mix it up and give the wyverns a domain to reign over, rather than crowd them in a trench. This drives a bit more uncertainty with the player's safety, as well as creating dangerous air traffic! Moving forward with Ragnarok development, players can expect two things: Us going back and adding some extra love and definition to the most recently released area as well as more resources, and us fixing any bugs that show up in the South West that we or any player may find in their adventures!

To be fair, the entire CCU system needs a overhaul.
Getting rid of 0$ CCU's is a start though. Should CIG ever actually do it.
  4. LordSeb added a post in a topic Speculative ships?

That is something. All this speculating on ships, are we going to be able to still CCU to brand new concept ships that are just released. I think I heard something about CIG changing how CCU works. If CCU still works to a new concept ship, I definitely might go Cutlass black - Red and origin 600I otherwise I might hold off and just go to the origin if it makes a debut at gamescom.

Something about game development. To make more sense out of Star Citizen.

On another note, Lightworks appears to be a pretty damn amazing editing software. It is free, but you can get a paid version available for outright or subscription payments. To me that trumps Adobe Premier because it means you aren't constantly shelling out for it.

We really have to delete all the ships of the persons who left the org to get a proper overview.

Well a real SSD requires fitting it into this. You get a gold medal if you do. I am dubious about opening it up to put additional ram in, it is pretty damn thin compared to plugging and playing with a desktop.
On a side note, thanks to you both. I tried your way first Director and things picked up massively in Star Citizen, I got reasonable framerate in the video feed. When I dropped it to 720p as per Treello's advice I suddenly feel like I have jumped up to 40-50 frames. Things are running very smooth now, so I can do some hangar tours have a bit of a laugh.

If what you are saying is true and everything is working double the effort, I am surprised my laptop hasn't burnt through the cooling pad. I really am putting my Zen Book through its paces.

One thing to note, if anyone else ends up getting use out of this thread is, if you have a dual intel/Nvidia setup graphics card setup, don't force it to the Nvidia card. I tried that in the Nvidia manager and OBS had a absolute fit. Refused to take video feed from my display, when on my desktop and in game. Just black screen of preview. For some reason, it prefers to be forced onto the intel card and then utilises the Nvidia. Beats the hell out of me why. You would think the feed was all happening on the Nvidia.

Anyway, thanks again you guys. We had a win!

Before you start there, drop your bitrate to something reasonable say 12,000-14,000, your bitrate is at overkill right now.
Keep your final FPS reasonable, say around 30 FPS, yes watchers will see the difference versus someone with a 60 FPS rig, but until you have a full gaming rig i doubt you could really do much better.
Don't try to play high quality games, stick to lower graphic games, this will improve quality alot. think Portal 2 or CSGO, BF4 and such.

Here is my settings, mind you its been a while and with my rig i probably can do better.
    Output: Advanced
    Type Custom
    Output type: To File
    Bitrate 18,000
    Audio Bitrate: 192

    FPS: 30 (locked)

So here's how OBS works, while you're recording, it is acting like a second monitor, so your cpu is doing double the workload as its doing the screen your seeing and the "digital" screen thats being saved as .mp4

The drawback is that your CPU or GPU (or both) is doing double what it normally does, so if you can get 60 fps out of Star Citizen, your lucky to have 30 FPS recording. But the software doesnt slow its self down to 30 FPS, it just keeps asking for more than what your PC can give.

By forcing the recording down to 30 FPS, you get back your performance, at least a little bit.

    DISCLAIMER:
Its been awhile, some of what i have said is just theory, and better updates and improvements to OBS may fix some of the issues you have.

Also, get a real SSD man!

I would also suggest starting your adventures till you upgrade recording in a downscaled format to about 720p... this will free up some resources. and also if your doing it for youtube 9/10 people do not watch youtube in full screen. They watch it in the little box so the smaller resolution will look fine.
  11. The_Director added a post in a topic Game Recording software etc. YouTube

I'll respond fully but from what I understand most times your pc needs to have double the CPU and gpu processing power in order to record.
  12. Treello added a post in a topic Game Recording software etc. YouTube

I do not believe your GPU is fast enough to support both playing the game and the video encoding. I would suggest encoding in x264. This will use your cpu instead of your gpu
  13. LordSeb added a post in a topic Game Recording software etc. YouTube

Would you have any tips on OBS settings? I've been recording to MP4 format, but am getting considerable stutter or framerate lag in the video feed of recordings in both Star Citizen and Stellaris. The games themselves are running smooth, so it is a bit confusing to see the visual feed issue in the recorded videos. The audio comes out perfect. Probably worth mentioning I am using display capture and running in admin for star citizen and obs.
My specs are a U500vz Asus Zenbook:
    I7-3612QM, 4core core.
    8g ram
    Nvidia Geforce GT 650M.
    512mb solid state.

Anyway any thoughts or tips on settings to help overcome it would be greatly appreciated. I'll attach my current settings in images.

    Thanks

    Seb

Question surrounding the mobiglas. Will the mobiglas get alerts when your ship is having its hatches kicked in and you are being boarded or is that more of a ship wide pa announcement? I mean, on youtube I have seen plenty a constellation get hijacked.

    GREETINGS CITIZENS
Gamescom 2947 is almost here, and Star Citizen’s presence will be felt throughout. This year, we have another booth on the show floor where anyone interested can see and try the latest Star Citizen Alpha. In addition, some of our favorite community streamers will be on hand to share the game with everyone who can’t make it to Cologne, and conduct their own interviews with CIG developers live from the showfloor. That’s all leading up to the main event on Friday night, where Chris Roberts will share the latest on Star Citizen’s development (and as always a surprise or two) with a backer-only crowd! As usual, Chris’ presentation will be livestreamed, so whether you’re attending the event or following from home, you won't have to miss out on a thing. All the details you need are available in this post. We look forward to showing you what’s next!

Chris Roberts and Sandi Gardiner host this episode, which explores the mobiGlas. Plus, we debut “Burndown,” a segment featuring various bugs and blockers affecting 3.0.

    Highlights
    Burndown
90 issues must be fixed prior to release to non CIG testers and are categorized as blocker, critical, high, moderate and trivialQA loves it when new features come online so they can tell the developers that their babies are ugly and make them cryA bugged up example that was created by the implementation of rotating planets was waking up backwards and passing through the geometry of Olisar when spawnedThere are 10 pages of checklists that need to be covered by QA for the 3.0 releaseQA has several reviews a week due to time zones being a thing and while having tech design very handy in the UK their discussion is usually on an hourly basisQA finds ways through difficult testing and bugs to have amazing experiences togetherThere's still a lot of rough edges that need to be smoothed out, like boxy Rover wheelsOne QA specialist thinks that their newly bought Rover might actually be quite usedA ship bug is commonly troubleshooted by testing all the ships in the same manner to resolve whether it's the individual ship, the manufacturer or etc, and a note is attached for easy access and follow up by other testersThe falling animation seems to be a particularly heavy bug at the momentQA is a lot like omelette making as it requires scrambled eggsSometimes fixing issues creates others, but so far 12 have been resolvedCheck-ins or changelist into Perforce represents the work of devs in the Revision Control System with 1,892 just this week through the companyThe numbers are high due to continued use of the game dev branch for 3.0 which currently has 3,676 open items which should dwindle over the coming weeks
    mobiGlas
A UI team feature that has been overhauled is the mobiGlas to be more akin to a desktop OSRender to Texture made this much easier without having the need for writing tons of bespoke code and allows it to be viewed across many different kinds of ingame displays whether 2D or 3D and in a more realistic mannerThe UI will be designed to match environmental archetypes such as clothing, architecture, technology and culture as an example 3D holograms will be in higher tech areas whereas 2D flat displays will be more akin to the lower tech onesThe mobiGlas, like today's smartphones, serve as the primary access for game mechanics, transactions and player communicationmobiGlas home screen widgets manage mission contracts, customize player loadouts, view maps, etcmobiGlas also serves to keep you informed of your character and environmental statusSince they redesigned the function of the mobiGlas they went ahead and revamped the model as well going with two different much smaller and thinner models (military and civilian) that work better with the multiple components of clothing and armor while still always being viewableJeremiah Lee illuminated the 3D concept easily and quickly for the mobiGlas model redesignedThe redesign took into account the modular aspect of Star Citizen with widgets being customizable to your specific functionality, personality and for blingA diegetically projected UI is used so that not just the player can see it, but others around can as well with a visual connection that promotes immersion (not to be confused with Dianetics)A diegetically projected UI is a boon for creating a VR capable game, but does cause a little loss in flexibility and control by the designers especially when changes are neededmobiGlas differs from traditional UI in that they tried to make it as diegetic as possible, make it look like a real object in the world and not just sitting on top of the game worldTried to stay to simple line art, shape language, basic colour schemes and compact information light layoutsThis takes the combination effort of not just the UI team but animation, audio, VFXAudio’s focus was not to break the immersion of the player so they created a soundscape whenever you bring the mobiGlas upThey wanted to give the player the feeling of using an actual electronic deviceYour character needs to be aware of the UI so it’s one of the reasons they opted to have the arm visible on screen as the connection between UI and characterStarmap will use the same display tech as radarThey’ve done more iteration on it for new effects and to make it more visually impressiveStarmap is first implementation of the world display system which allows them to preview different kinds of data from different kinds of sourcesBiggest code challenge has been trying to translate positional data of the worlds, get these big objects to fit into your small screenRevamp of mission manager which is now named the contract manager and manages all missions between mission givers and the PU as well as eventually player created missionsApp is split amongst a number of different screen flows: available contracts screen, pending screen, a screen that displays all contracts you’ve accepted, contract history screenLater down the line they’ll add a screen where you can create your own contracts and post it on available contracts boardsInventory manager will also be introduced where players can search using a specified filter or be sorted and searched amongst, this app will also allow you to transfer items from one cargo box to another or ship to ship as long as origin and destination are in same relative locationCourtesy of Relay

May I ask where you got the set? For how much? I'm looking at this $700 gaming PC, it has the parts similar to yours.
