Subscriber's Town Hall w/ UK Props Team
Ben Curtis and Cory Bamford of the UK Props Team chat with Jared Huckaby as they answer questions exclusively from our development subscribers about their work on Star Citizen and Squadron 42.
    Highlights
Today's Happy Hour featured two members of the Foundry 42 U.K. Props team: Corey Banford and Ben Curtis. The props team is responsible for all the things you see that aren't bolted down or ships and weapons. This ranges from things as small as a pen, bottles, and cups to crates, shipping containers, and the weather antenna on certain surface outposts. The props team also makes ship components! They're responsible for making the components that we in the ships and soon be able to admire they're work more closely with the ability to swap out modules in the ships post 3.0. For 5 of the basic component types, they've estimated that they have been working on between 20-25 for each component type.Consistency is a big deal to them because not only do they want the components to fit properly, but they're also designing the components to have a unique look and feel to them based off their manufacturer so that you can look at a component and know who built it at a glance. The prop team's long term goal is to allow props in the world to be manipulated by players if they choose to do so and interact with them in such a way that creates new gameplay for them if they so desire such as shooting out lights or breaking glass etc. They will be implementing damage states for many more props over time with  wear and tear so finding things in the universe will be different as the elements and time will play a part in the condition of something. There was a big debate over whether a sink should have one faucet or two with Corey stating that two faucets, hot and cold are superior due to the ability to use both, but Ben redid his bathroom and added only one faucet stating the convenience for his children's sake. When someone asked about the Crusader Industries B419 Tactical Stealth Utility Tarp they were very hush hush about it.Courtesy of Relay

  3. Lancebringer added a post in a topic Dreamsheet 1151. 2066 is untested and not out yet. Thoughts?

good point, but as of right now the 2066 is very rushed, it may turn into the new 980/970 screwup. Time will tell. As of right now im running on 6+ year old hardware, and it was dated when i built it (budget build) and I STILL went with the AM3 pile of garbage.
When I ordered my card it was more than a year before the new cards came available (everyone said wait for the 1000 series)
  4. Drakin added a post in a topic Dreamsheet 1151. 2066 is untested and not out yet. Thoughts?

Seems pretty well thought out, but not really all that future resistant.
If you don't need to upgrade yet, why bother? Lots of dust has yet to settle. If you're sticking with the same GPU, which is the key gaming differentiator anyway, it sounds like you have no reason to build a new machine yet.
1151 is totally defensible as a choice if you need to build something right now. But if you can wait, then wait. Six months from now you'll be able to make a "future resistant" choice that will actually provide multi year upgrade options.

Dreamsheet 1151. 2066 is untested and not out yet. Thoughts?
Im going to build a dreamsheet for a solid and future resistant desktop upgrade for myself.
I currently am running an ASUS mobo with an FX-6200 lodged into its AM3+ socket. I have some Gskill ram thats helping push the EVGA GTX 970 FTW+ with AXC 2.0.

So my upgrade sheet will probably not include a video card, as I only play at 1920*1080. If I do it will be a future upgrade to add at some point.
My PSU should be pushing adequate power as its a Thermaltake Black Widow W0319RU 850W. Modular, and I love it.

So. Lets start with a Motherboard.
Socket first? 1151. 2011v3 is great and all, but for multithreading and heavy cpu work, which I dont do. I'm a gamer, remember? Even then, I should be able to process any video/audio needs should that spark fly in my direction.
Make? Asus. Always had asus, they have never let me down. Friends have had Gigabyte and ASRock, and have been let down.
    Form?  ATX.
    So.. Wheres that put me?
    ASUS TUF Z270 Mark 1 LGA1151 DDR4 DP HDMI M.2 USB 3.1 Z270 ATX
    https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132934
The Z270 is not a completely necessary chipset over prior generations, but hey, 7th gen Intel is 7th gen Intel.
The TUF provides a VERY similar spec sheet to the 40 dollar cheaper 270-A prime, but with a 5 year warranty, a stronger board, and more robust cooling, Ill take it. Better cooling=increased gaming duration and reliability.

Now the Processor, this should be easy, do I need an i7? no. this is a gaming computer, until game makers actually start using more cores, its a moot point, Even then, I can upgrade a processor easy.
    Intel Core i5-7600K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 3.8 GHz LGA 1151 91W BX80677I57600K
    https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117728
Is it as good as the Ryzen that just came out? Not really. But Im going to back away from the AMD circuit, they tend to lean to better performance with the ATI cards, and I just cant stand them (its the way they render color).

    To be continued.

This would be the Ti to get.
$779 isnt a bad price point
  7. Lancebringer added a post in a topic Gigabyte launched their x299 chipset socket 2066 motherboards

Top end performance for mostly enthusiast reasons are a bit of a pain at this point. I felt it rather moot considering most of the people that will benefit the most will be hardcore gamers with a couple ssd's running a few select games.
The raid key bit is a bit asinine if you ask me. not to mention the requirements for raid 5.
I dunno. I think this will do great things for those of us building a SC machine, or even a machine for other games.
I do wish Intel would spend more time polishing this turd, but we'll see. Hopefully this doesn't turn into another 970/980 debacle

Yea, saw that too. That's Intel being Intel.
I figure it'll be another year before I get around to building a new system anyway, so thrre:'s plenty of time to let this hot mess settle down.

looks like we can see a sub 200$ x299 lga2066 and with a 300$ roughly i7 new processor. We should be able to upgrade for around 5-700 usd if we get ram as well. Still in the very much good price ranges.

When I find them for sale. I'll post them asap.

    base/station medic/doctor
Base/station vault/storage manager (aka cargo and equipment manager) "

    Base establishment (in hostile zones):
Discovering and surveying the best place (strategically) to place a planet-side HQ, Outpost, temporary or permanent base of operations for Tac operations.
Information to be kept top secret. Evacuation protocols, emergency rendezvous and contingency plans should be ready in case of a security breach.

Happy Hour Interview: Item 2.0 Discussion
Host Jared Huckaby sits down with Lead Technical Designer Kirk Tome, Senior Gameplay Engineer Mark Abent and Gameplay Engineer Chad McKinney to discuss the new gameplay possibilities presented by the continuing upgrades to Item System 2.0.

    Highlights
Today's Happy Hour featured guests Mark Abent, Kirk Tome, and Chad McKinney talking about Item system 2.0 and what it means to 3.0 and beyond.Item system 2.0 isn't a single entity, but the technology that allows them to customize objects infinitely more than before. CryEngine before used Logic blocks which worked well, until you wanted something different from them. Item System 2.0 removes the logic from the blocks and allows developers to put in whatever they'd like. So instead of getting into a ship and having it automatically turning on, now you can get into the ship and sit there. From there you can turn on individual systems or turn them off at any given time. You can also have a co-pilot manipulate the shields in specific ways such as how much power is diverted to them or the direction the shields can be focused. Power can be diverted from weapons to engines to give a better chance of escape, etc.Locking your ship likely won't be in 3.0 as it's more involved than just a simple lock, but designing a security system to allow for passage of certain players and the system can be adapted to more than just doors. All ships have to be converted to Item system 2.0 for 3.0.For the first release there won't be restrictions on ship components as they want to test to system to make sure it works, down the line they'll tweak it to have certain ships only allow certain components. They posted a sneak peek of the ship stats page revamp and said that anytime a ship changes, they'll update it right away. Courtesy of Relay

I love to see the new extreme chips, but still disappointed with Intel's price gouging. If AMD's ThreadRipper series costs anywhere close to what is rumored it will be a big win for consumers and a big blow to Intel's new lineup.

I do understand what you are saying mate and if we can get it in the hands of pirates i can see it would be a useful training tool, my fear is if the data was sold on the open market and we hit non-pirates, as it would maybe give TA i bad name in the verse. It is my understanding we want to show Strength in some situations and Hope in other's.
Maybe not Hope but i had already used Understanding in the sentence lol

Because we be the one's selling the info at grim hex. We don't have to do it. But it was just a idea.
Just thought it give military something to do and people could train at bounty hunting. How to take out ships with out killing the people in the ship. If I had this idea that means a 100 other people have to. But it up to the people in charge.
