  1. Star Trek: Discovery

I watched it as well. I knew I wasn't the only one who despises the revamped Klingon look! Ever since they introduced it in the JJ Abrams movies I've hated the change. They all look generic now and they've got so much prosthetics on that it's almost impossible to recognize any expressions or individuality they try to portray. Overall I thought it was great, though it was missing something crucial to a star trek series: humor and crew development. That being said I think both of those elements will develop as the series gets going, I mean we know next to nothing about Discovery's crew and its already 3 episodes in. Also if I remember correctly I don't think TNG or Voyager were all that humorous in their pilots either. I like the groundwork that's been laid down so far; how the story takes place before the original series (yet they still chose to bring it up to date), perspectives/emphasis from both the Klingons and a first officer - not solely from a captain, and lastly the show's producers seem to have an appreciation for the small details. The only thing that concerns me is that Discovery's crew from the previews, aside from the captain, doesn't look all that "memorable/iconic" : you could mix and match any actor into their roles and it wouldn't change a thing. Maybe that will change once they're given a chance to develop.
  2. What is your Favourite Sci Fi Series

Only recently started watching sci-fi shows in the last year. Loved Star Trek: TNG & Voyager Next up on my watch list are Battlestar Galactica, Stargate (enjoyed the movie), and Firefly
  3. Ark server up again

Same. Ping is drastically different than what it says its supposed to be. I wouldn't worry about it too much
  4. Ark server up again

xD I learned the hard way the day before 😭
  5. Ark server up again

The much awaited v265 update has arrived! This major update opens up additional locations in Ragnarok, introduces tameable Titanboas, and even provides huge perf gains. (may vary based on system configuration due to upgrading to the latest Unreal Rendering code)Ragnarok is expanding into the South West region of the map where it'll be opening up the playing field by adding a near 25% (the size of The Island) additional playable landmass including: large islands, lots of flat-lands to build, a new experimental free range Wyvern cove, temple ruins, a meteor crash site, underwater passages, as well as a mini Tasmania Australia as we call it. This most recent update has been a challenge creativity-wise. Scorched Earth and The Island assets were never really meant to be placed side by side necessarily, so finding that balanced between the two has been rewarding. We really wanted to emphasize a change from the more tight-knit North West to a more open and accessible South West. Where, we could give ARK players a host of new wide open areas to conquer and explore, as well as the real estate to really drive those large creative builds. With this update, we wanted to try something new, something different. Rather than just do another Wyvern trench in the South, we thought, why not mix it up and give the wyverns a domain to reign over, rather than crowd them in a trench. This drives a bit more uncertainty with the player's safety, as well as creating dangerous air traffic! Moving forward with Ragnarok development, players can expect two things: Us going back and adding some extra love and definition to the most recently released area as well as more resources, and us fixing any bugs that show up in the South West that we or any player may find in their adventures!

Loving the mods so far. S+ is truly a lifesaver and Steampunk adds new content. Only gripe about this one though is that farming for berries now forces useless ferns and other plants into the inventory that adds needless weight
  7. Ark server up again

Not sure whether to call you a guardian angel or a sly devil ^_^

Just happened to come across these houses the day you posted pics unintentionally while I was exploring. You're becoming quite the architect. Also the Highlands seem so much more peaceful than where I am. First couple days seagulls and argentavis' had a field day with me. Then once I got settled a pack of 5 carnos and an alpha raptor were running along the beach just outside my house.
  9. A solid build. Anything beyond AM3 should feel like a considerable improvement. However I agree with Drakin that unless you can't afford to delay an upgrade any longer, it may be better to just wait. With SSD and RAM memory reaching some of their peak prices and Intel's Coffee Lake supposedly coming out at the end of the year promising mainstream 6 core processing (which I believe is what Drakin was alluding to) a little more patience could go a long way. We've been stuck in an endless loop of Quad core processors for nearly a decade and have only recently started realizing it's limitations. Buying a quad-core now almost feels like buying an old blackberry phone on the heels of the first "smartphone" release (aka Iphone). Okay maybe not that transformative but we will finally be able to escape this plateau. 1151 is a strong and stable platform, but it won't provide the kind of future proof system your looking for.
  10. New Intel i9 and x series processors are here.

I love to see the new extreme chips, but still disappointed with Intel's price gouging. If AMD's ThreadRipper series costs anywhere close to what is rumored it will be a big win for consumers and a big blow to Intel's new lineup. http://www.tweaktown.com/news/57838/amd-ryzen-threadripper-16c-32t-rumored-cost-849/index.html
  11. Concierge can now buy the Eclipse (warbond only)

Maybe it's what I initially thought, but I wasn't intending to say that one ship could destroy a capital ship. Only that I wasn't expecting that there would be another single-seater bomber that had capabilities beyond the Gladiator and being on par with a Tali (in terms of price/size of payload). One things for certain it's definitely going to pack a punch on a direct hit. Ahh now that makes a lot more sense. I was going off the ship stats page which didn't provide much detail at all to the specificity of the Retaliator's armaments. Still the pictures of the Eclipse don't do the torpedoes justice. For a very niche bomber it's very expensive - a $25-50 deduction possibly could've been justified.

While mining and trading should be potentially lucrative sectors: the PU is supposed to be pretty well-balanced so its not like auroras or mustangs will be making 5 times less money. Remember the prospector has no armor and no weaponry which means its needs protection. Depending upon the location and profitability of the operation mercenaries may decide to turn on you and take a bigger pot of credits. It also has limited transport ability = it may require transport ships. And mining equipment will need to be continually repaired or exchanged to name a few drawbacks. So while the prospector is specialized for small mining operations , aurora and mustang owners should still have a solid cash flow with the flexibility of jobs they can take. I think the price of 2-3 auroras would be more appropriate, that's my opinion. First off great hypothetical situation, it felt so personal. Size 9 Good God!?! I must've looked over that. I was going to compare it to the Retaliator which also costs $275 and is equipped with torpedoes, but they're only S3 (which is very odd considering they look 40x bigger than the Eclipse's). I agree that the Eclipse fits its role perfectly and it will be an extremely formidable ship to be reckoned with. A single-seater stealth bomber capable of destroying capital ships is just a lot to swallow. Maybe I'm just in shock more than anything else. I figured the Gladiator was going to be the standard single (technically double) seater bomber available, having S5 torpedoes and costing $165.

I completely agree Dan, the new prices just seem off base lately. Before you could at least get a sense of what a ship may cost based on it's size or rarity, but nowadays a small ship like the eclipse costs nearly as much as a constellation aquila, coming close to the Orion. A beginners mining ship, the prospector costs as much as 5 starter ships. An intermediate explorer ship the Terrapin costs as much as popular multi-crew ships. Even small vehicles like the 350r, 85x, Razor, Gladius, or Defender are a bit out of reach considering their roles - yes I know Origin and Alien races come with their own premiums, but at what level is it considered reasonable? 20? 50? 200? I'm sure a great many people with small packages (sounds weird now that I wrote it ), like myself, would love to invest into the development a little more, but these sales feel as though they are getting more and more out of reach to the majority of their customers. Bringing less and less logic/value to the pricing. Could be just the side effect of trying to re-balance the ship prices since they first started offering ships. All I know is I'd like to see more alternative ships to the freelancer.
  14. getting back into it

I cannot even begin to imagine your grief. You have my deepest sympathies Zeus. Although we may be thousands of miles apart, we're with you only a few computer bytes away. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal"
  15. xD No no not at all. You actually did a fine job of explaining it. Ah gotcha. I hadn't read up much on the core config specifics (doesn't quite get the dopamine flowing you know? That and I haven't quite settled into the nitty gritty stage yet) Its a shame they had to cut corners. The infinity fabric is just a superset of HyperTransport (think Intel QuickPath)- a technology to interconnect processors
