  1. I don't see any problems with this idea, neither economical or geographical.
  2. Two SPARE bedrooms?! If they are next to each other we can tear down the wall and make a full sized Connie bridge. That would be awesome!
  3. I actually put down some time trying to learn how to fly the Ka-50. I had to quit before I smashed something to pieces or killed the neighbour, I got so mad that the damn thing didn't do what I wanted it to do. I'm sticking to fixed winged for now.
  4. A small update, removed, moved and added some things.
  5. I'm one of those people who felt envy as well and that's why I did this. The pit is made with being able to play different kind of games in mind, that is why it was so important that the mouse and keyboard were positioned in front instead of to the side like people usually do with simpits. I started this two weeks into my four week summer vacation after building a sofa out on the balcony, this meant that it had to be finished in two weeks before I went back to work. Time is a hell of a motivator so I recommend starting something when you have a short time to finish it. You inspire me boss, I will now add a retractable ladder to the side! Just this morning I started thinking of how I would build a double seated pit, one in front of the other as the F-14 Tomcat is soon to be released in DCS. If you have the space for it I think we can get it done in about two to three weeks. We need to have shared custody though and I can come and go as I want.

  7. I use the Warthog HOTAS so I have two seperate throttle axis. I use one for collective (angle of the blades) and one for the throttle (increase-decrease the RPM of the engine). In other games you usually just have a throttle with no need for adjustment of the collective.

  9. So, it's finished. I'm pleased with how it turned out, it does look like furniture and not just some toy that I feel embarrased to show to others. There are still those parts about it that I want to change but I can set aside an hour or two when I can to modify and adjust those problems.   12. That right there with the keyboard and mouse is what I wanted to get around for games like SC. Having a place for everything. The best thing about the way that you have done it is that there is no problem with leg room while using pedals.
  13. The mouse under the keyboard is actually very comfy as I have my Logitech G13 keyboard next to the mouse. My hands are usually at the same level to each other. What I want to change is the height as I right now bump my knees into the underside of where the keyboard and mouse are when I use the racing or rudder pedals. I did not realise this until I actually sat down in it. I would like to make it more configurable so that I can find the best position for everything and for when others are using it.

  15. During my summer vacation of last year I started working on my simpit. I've yet to complete it but I'm planning on doing that this spring/summer. What I wanted with this build was to be able to just sit at it and browse the web and the next moment be playing SC without moving and connecting my HOTAS and rudder pedals. The thing with SC is that it's an FPS and flight game which means if you are playing with a HOTAS for flying and mouse and keyboard for FPS, something's always in the way. My design of this simpit makes it so I have everything ready for when I want to use it. My HOTAS is always connected and it's not in the way on my mouse and keyboard and vice versa. As I also play driving games from time to time I also wanted to make it easy to get into driving mode. After using the simpit for a few months I have things that I need to change that are driving me crazy sometimes but the main design is done.

  17. I'm exited, it looks amazing. I actually liked Andromeda (and Inquisition) even at the level of quality it had, so from what I've seen from this, I'm interested. And remember folks, we have not really seen anything yet. Don't make a decision yet on how you love or hate this game. The only thing we've seen is a bit of gameplay and what the graphic hopefully looks like. The story might actually be incredible, or just dirt, wait and see.

  20. As I already have a 4k headset I think the tech is there, they just have to invest in it. Right now the focus seems to be freedom, having a PC on your back letting you walk around without having to worry about cords. You also have to remember that you will need a really good PC if you want to play games in 4k, 90Hz in VR. The headset I have right now is only 60Hz which actually isn't that bad, I clearly notice a difference between my Rift and the Pimax (4k China headset) when it comes to FPS and how smooth it is but 60Hz is still fine, I've had no problem with it. If the big players (Oculus and HTC) decide to use a 4k 60Hz screen and keep the way you can move around with their products I think they will have a really good product on the market in a year or two. We might see something new at E3 next month, really looking forward to it. Good to hear! As I already bought it I'll see you on the bridge.
  21. The way you can smoothly control the ship in all directions is incredible. If CIG is still working on a SC HOTAS setup, they should really take a few notes from this build.
