Guideline for most important professiones in TA

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, if this issue was already addressed, please let me know about that post.

Ehmmm, Star Citizen, such a cool game with a plethora of variations at the time of deciding about professions and we all want ships. But as an organization, there are positions that are required the most? For example, good repairmen? group of researchers? I mean, maybe each one of us could achieve all of the above, being good pilots, being good gunners, being good fps players, being good merchants, being good miners, etc... But something like this is a little bit... amorphous... There is a guideline about the most important professions for Tactical Advance? If I want to be a researcher, I can work alongside the research oriented team of TA? How could it work? I guess this issue was already issued before, if so, refer me to it please.

I did not implied that. What I meant is that I wanted to know if there is a guideline about the most important professions on the organization, since I would like to fill in on what the organization needs the most too. We could have 50% of our members enrolled for exploration and those 50% of members have their own ships to command, what are they going to do? employ NPCs? We don't need repairmen? What is the ratio of repairmen (Engineers) that we need? Things like this for example, be it, engineering, exploration, mining, military, you name it.

For me is more than fine to be a "explorer" but you know, I would like to explode my fort points too, for example, I play decently cs:go, I could also support missions as a foot soldier, because I have never piloted ships like in Star Citizen before, I am a total noob in it and I will probably be so for quite some time, even with practice...

Any job you want to do in the game. We will have people doing that job, you can work along side. Like AirBorn4Life said exploration division is taking care of all research info we have at this time. But we are still waiting for a lot of info off CIG about it. As they build it out we should hear more. You can be a member of more than one division if you want to.

People are planning on doing lots of jobs at this point. As the PU is built out, people will have a better idea on what they want to do and what they like. As for me I have a lot of military and industrial ships in my fleet. I think I like that game play. But it could change as we start to play the game and find out more about them roles. So at this point we (TA) or any other Org do not know what their member will like 100% at this point.

People are always going to need crew for their ships. People are always going to want to crew other people ships. Because not everyone can buy the bigger ships/ all the ships. As we get closer to when the game go live we have a lot more people with only one ship. After all that all you need. But some job will be done by NPC. If we don't have the people or no one like that job.

So the answer to your question is we don't know at this point. What would you like to do? What ever it is we will always need people to do it. Not all the time but at least some of the time.

When we have an actual outline of what professions are in the game and how they actually used.

Off the bat, escort pilots and crew will be a must regardless of what comes to be.

Doctors/medics? Maybe/Probably

It will be interesting to see what gameplay dynamics come from hauling, like can anyone be a hauler, or will specific yet tbd skills be required...

There are many vital professions out there that could be considered important. It all really depends on the ones you're most interested in. Mining brings in money, Repair and Fueling keep the ships running, Exploration finds and studies our universe to expand our influence, and the Military keeps it all under an Iron Dome while it happens.

Its great if you want to be a part of what is most important, but first and foremost is your own interest. Find what will make you happy playing the game, and we can help you find the best place to be to achieve that.

Generally speaking I refrain from saying one profession is more important than others. To use a military example, a fully pimped out iDisk battle group equiped with the finest fighters UEC can buy crewed by the best capital ship crews and fighter aces there are, is completely and totally useless without the start-g pusher who supplies them with fuel and ammunition. Or the crucible guys who fix the ships. The military has rebuilt itself around the idea that it takes all sorts of people to make an effective fighting force. So learn and follow whatever you want to do most, but don't get tunnel vision even the most gun-ho fighter pilots may want to take a day off and drive a star-g while listening to some podcasts. TA is a big tent and there is room for everyone, and there will be enough to do on a daily basis to avoid people from getting pigeon holed.

i owe this thread a more thorough response, but I am dealing with a personal housing matter right now, and will have a proper response once that has passed

I find repairing extremely interesting... Since it requires prior understanding of the ships engineering (I am an engineer). That is also why I got interested in research too. And the feeling that as a repairman, my life would be in the hands of the pilot and the gunners decisions, is kind of exciting.

There is a steam game called gun disassembly. I foresee the repair mechanic to be like that based on the official announcements. And in some of the cases, repairmen would be as important as the pilots themselves (To ensure escaping through a blockage and whatnot).

Well you are always welcome on my Crucible, after CIG makes it.
