Star Trek Bridge Crew

Recommended Posts

Well hello there fellow members!

I just wanted to make you all aware of this VR title. VR has not had any real games that I've been interested in until now and that is why I've been holding back on buying a Rift. Now that this game is coming out I finally felt that it was time.

Star Trek Bridge Crew places you in one of four roles, Captain, Helm, Tactical and Engineer. This does not only look like a really fun game to play but also a really good game for us members to play together as a crew with specific roles. The only real negative, and positive part at the same time is the fact that it's a vr game, so of course it's only for those in possession of a Rift or Vive headset and controllers.

The game is released on may 30.

Oh yes it's expensive but all new tech is and this is the first generation, if we want a second gen then we have to support the current one so that the developers keep improving and making it more mainstream. So if you like the idea of VR, support this gen by buying it (if you can afford it of course) so that they can lower the price and raise the quality.

I do have a China made 4k headset and the resolution is fantastic even though it only supports 2k res at the moment. The problem is there's no sensors for moving your head except turning it. But with this I've seen how good vr can get when it comes to image quality. I giggle every time I take a seat in a cockpit in DCS because of the realistic feel to it.

yeh i don't exactly have the money to buy into first gen although me and my friend said we were defiantly going to get one if they brought out a second gen version, do you think that would happen soon or not for a couple more years?(the seconds gen vr)

Probably a couple of years for next gen.

As there are unlikely to be enough of us VR users for an org group in this game, there is a good discord for people who will be playing it:

I will be buying it, you can get it for 20% off on uplay if you have a spare 100 uplay points, I believe it will redeem on Steam.

As I already have a 4k headset I think the tech is there, they just have to invest in it. Right now the focus seems to be freedom, having a PC on your back letting you walk around without having to worry about cords.

You also have to remember that you will need a really good PC if you want to play games in 4k, 90Hz in VR. The headset I have right now is only 60Hz which actually isn't that bad, I clearly notice a difference between my Rift and the Pimax (4k China headset) when it comes to FPS and how smooth it is but 60Hz is still fine, I've had no problem with it.

If the big players (Oculus and HTC) decide to use a 4k 60Hz screen and keep the way you can move around with their products I think they will have a really good product on the market in a year or two. We might see something new at E3 next month, really looking forward to it.

Good to hear! As I already bought it I'll see you on the bridge.

You aren't going to get the product update you want in the next year, I don't expect to hear anything at E3 apart from more details about the MS VR headsets which will be a good step to making VR affordable, but the software situation is the big question mark.

Well I can always hope for the best.

I might actually get this. I bought the rift with the touch last Christmas and have only been getting the free titles, some of which are really good. This looks like a good trainer for large ship crew interaction. I'll wait and see more reviews
